Spice Taxi

BBC World Service

Spice Taxi was a ground breaking strand on the BBC World Service, presented by
Toyin Fani Kayode and produced by Penny Boreham. The strand ran for many years.

In a special series within the strand, Toyin and Penny took the ‘Spice Taxi’ to South Africa to make three programmes called ‘Southern Spice’.  This was in 1992, after  Nelson Mandela’s release but before his electoral victory in 1994 so many of the  racist laws were still in place.
